About the HIM Circle
Whether your department goes by HIM, Health Information Services, Medical Records, or another name, it is still true that you play an important role in your hospital, clinic, or other facility.
With RAC's, new HITECH regulations, and continued shortages of experienced HIM professionals, things are as tough as they've ever been, and it isn't looking any easier in the near future.
On top of these pressures, we've never had fewer resources to address some of these needs. Uninsured patients, a poor economy, and a low census everywhere we look have led to lower budgets and a trapped feeling amongst some HIM Directors that are charged with Mission Impossible: Do more, use less.
